Magento 2.3

On April 28, 2022, sites running on versions of Magento Open Source or Adobe Commerce 2.3  will stop receiving official support from Adobe. Although these websites will still function after the end-of-life date, Adobe highly recommends upgrading to version 2.4 sooner rather than later to prevent security threats and other risks.

Read on to learn why this change is so important and how you can plan for a smooth transition in the coming months.

The Importance of Timely Upgrades

Neglecting to upgrade your Adobe site on time means that you’ll be fully responsible for all security matters and PCI compliance issues. Your Magento 2.3.x store will continue to work as usual, but over time, its features will become outdated. Without new patches or updates, your site will inevitably slow down, become more vulnerable to security breaches, and fall behind newer eCommerce technologies.

Upgrading to the latest version of Adobe Commerce might seem inconvenient, but continuing to use an unsupported version will likely be more expensive and time-consuming in the long run.

Benefits of Magento 2.4

Upgrading to Magento 2.4 before the April 28 date will keep your site performing at its very best while protecting you against the latest security threats and issues. Many of the bugs and problems retailers faced with Magento 2.3 have been resolved in the upgraded version.

In addition to receiving continued support, Magento 2.4 users will get to access a litany of new features and improvements. Highlights of the latest version include:

  • 33 security fixes
  • Hundreds of issues were resolved from the Magento 2.3 core code
  • Infrastructure improvements for several features, including the Customer Catalog, CMS, Cart and Checkout, and B2B functionalities
  • Live Search, an AI and ML technology powered by Adobe Sensei
  • GraphQL support for shared catalogs, wish lists, gift registries, and more
  • Page Builder functionality for Magento Open Source sites
  • New uses for the Upgrade Compatibility Tool
