We are excited to announce that Magento Open Source 2.4.4, along with security-only patches 2.4.2-p2 and 2.3.7-p3, is now available to our open source customers and community. We also have more feature and service updates coming on April 26. Watch your email for more information.

Magento Open Source 2.4.4 core updates

Magento Open Source 2.4.4 marks a new step forward in commerce capabilities, security, and performance. Built on the newest version of PHP (8.1), it enables customers to future-proof their digital commerce businesses with faster access to innovative features delivered as SaaS services, easier maintenance and upgrades, additional headless commerce support, and significant increases in performance and scalability.

Security, performance, stability, and scale

Magento Open Source 2.4.4 is our most performant, scalable, and secure version ever. Confidently handle complex catalogs larger than before and process greater transaction volumes. Also, gain significant improvements in performance for both the Admin and storefront from the adoption of PHP 8.1.

Admin UI and accessibility updates

Magento Open Source 2.4.4 enhances our Admin to conform with accessibility standards. This includes accessible naming and tagging, which enables users without vision or with limited vision to use assistive technology to interact with our backend. Other enhancements include updated icons, buttons, and tooltips to provide a more usable backend for customers and developers with vision impairments.

We are also simplifying accessible content creation with the latest version of Page Builder, which introduces the ability to include alt text on images. By adding this feature to our familiar business user-friendly toolset, we will empower merchants to utilize their existing workflows to easily improve accessibility and SEO.

Other product updates

PWA Studio

With PWA Studio 12.3, we continue to improve PWA Studio performance and security. CMS pages will be rendered with the shimmer loading effect introduced in 12.0, creating a more performant and enjoyable user experience. We are also improving security by including native support for reCAPTCHA in web forms.
