From 2015-2016, the Magento Marketplace was completely revamped in order to create a more user-friendly shopping experience. Wagento, along with several other Magento teams, collaborated to build a new online marketplace that offered new features and tools that the older site was unable to provide. Thanks to the dedication of these development teams, the Adobe Magento Marketplace became the attractive, easy-to-use website we know today.

Overview of Magento Marketplace

The Magento Marketplace is the official app store for Magento users to find helpful extensions, responsive themes, and other services to expand the platform’s capabilities. There are hundreds of free and paid apps to choose from, with plenty of options that are suitable for small startups and major enterprises alike. Merchants can find extensions for several categories, including:

  • Accounting and Finance
  • Content and Customizations
  • Customer Support
  • Marketing
  • Payments and Security
  • Reporting and Analytics
  • Sales
  • Shipping and Fulfillment
  • Site Optimization

For themes, Magento Marketplace makes it simple for retailers to find the perfect design for their specific industry. Merchants can browse through all themes, or narrow down their search to these categories:

  • All-purpose
  • Apparel
  • Automotive
  • Electronics
  • Food
  • Home
  • Services
  • Pets

How Wagento Helped Improve the Marketplace

The core focus of the Marketplace project was improving user experience. This meant designing an intuitive interface that would make it quick and easy for merchants to find what they needed, along with ensuring that all products featured on the store were high-quality. One member of the 2015-2016 project said that they “…needed strong technical help and a team with deep Magento knowledge,” which was why they chose to partner with Wagento.

Led by Brent Peterson, the Wagento team played a key role in developing the well-designed, scalable Marketplace ahead of schedule and under budget. “We could not have done it without Wagento,” reflected a former Magento team member. “I appreciated Brent’s knowledge and suggestions on how we could deliver the best possible Marketplace to both our Partners and Users.”

Once the project was completed, merchants were delighted with the changes made to the Magento Marketplace. These enduring alterations to the site included:

  • A more user-friendly store that had an on-site browser to make it simple for users to find the right extension they needed.
  • A highly curated array of products, services, and extensions that had all been thoroughly tested and reviewed to ensure that they worked properly.
  • The ability to create an account that kept track of the user’s purchase history and payment information.

Thanks to the hard work of the Wagento team, thousands of Magento users can continue to rely on the dependable Magento Marketplace to improve their eCommerce experiences.
